Built by a sailor, for sailors

ATN was founded in 1985 by offshore racer and maxi-boat skipper Etienne Giroire, who built the first modern spinnaker sleeve after watching every device on the market foul and jam in real offshore conditions. Forty years on, every product in the line still solves a problem he met on the water, raced hard in the OSTAR, the Whitbread, and the Route du Rhum.

Four decades on, that same standard runs through the whole line. The Spinnaker Sleeve, the Gale Sail storm sail, the Mastclimber, the Genoa Sleeve, and our multihull nets are each designed in-house, tested offshore, and backed by direct support and a warranty you can rely on. It is gear trusted by Vendée Globe winners and weekend cruisers alike.

Common questions

Where are ATN products made?

ATN designs its products in its own shop in Pinellas Park, Florida, where it also manufactures its core lineup, including the Spinnaker Sleeve, Genoa Sleeve, Tacker, and Mastclimber. ATN has built sailing equipment in-house since 1985 and now benefits from being part of the Sunrise Yacht Products family.

Can I buy ATN gear direct from the manufacturer?

Yes. ATN sells both direct to our customers and through our resale network of sailmakers, lofts, and chandleries, so you can buy wherever is easiest and most convenient for you. Sailmakers, lofts, and chandleries not already in the network are welcome to become ATN dealers.

Who founded ATN, and what does ATN make?

ATN was founded in 1985 by offshore racer Etienne Giroire, designer of the modern spinnaker sleeve. ATN makes the Spinnaker Sleeve, the Tacker, the Mastclimber, the Gale Sail storm sail, multihull nets, and other shorthanded and offshore sailing gear

Is the ATN Spinnaker Sleeve used by professional racers?

Yes. Every Vendée Globe winner since 1989 has carried the ATN Spinnaker Sleeve. Thanks to its bulletproof reliability, the ATN Soft Sleeve is now favored across virtually every shorthanded racing class above 35 feet; roughly 90% of Class 40 boats, for example, carry at least one ATN Sleeve.
